Current MVCA permits vehicle owners to request exchanges or refunds from manufacturers within a year or 20,000 km in case of repeated defects. However, mediation by the Vehicle Safety and Defect Deliberation Committee can be lengthy with limited outcomes, and disputes not meeting the requirements are often rejected. To address these issues, a new system is proposed for flexible and efficient dispute resolution through request-based mediation. The details are as follows:
Article 47-13 (Mediation Procedure for Exchange, Refund, etc.) (1) Vehicle owners who wish to mediate disputes related to vehicle exchange, refund, compensation, etc. may apply for mediation to the Vehicle Safety and Defect Deliberation Committee.
It will enter into force 6 months after the promulgation date.
