Bill Proposal for Product Liability Act

By March 24, 2023June 14th, 2023No Comments

Burden of proof to be shifted from customers to manufacturers

A proposed bill for the Product Liability Act aims to shift the burden of proof from customers to manufacturers for manufacturing defects, such as sudden unintended acceleration. Currently, customers are required to prove that damages were caused by a defect in the product while it was being used normally. This proposed revision seeks to protect customers from the harm caused by defects in highly sophisticated products like vehicles, which may be difficult for non-experts to prove.

It will enter into force 6 months after the promulgation date.
