MOLIT promulgated the revision of KMVSS. It intends to 1) expand the scope subject to AEBS installation to PC and trucks/special-purposed vehicles with a GVW of 3.5 tons or less and establish relevant requirements, 2) improve the requirements for lighting system to prevent traffic accidents, and 3) harmonize the requirements of fuel system and crash test for small-sized trucks with the UN regulations. The details are as follows:
- Mandatory installation of AEBS is expanded to the PCs and trucks/special-purposed vehicles with a GVW of 3.5 tons or less.
- The fuel system requirements are reorganized according to the fuel type. The test for fuel system integrity upon a roll-over is newly established. The requirements for the fuel system and crash test for small-sized trucks are harmonized with the UN regulations (R94, R95, R137) to improve the crash safety.
