AEBS is extended to PCs and trucks/special-purposed vehicles with a GVW of 3.5 tons or less under the KMVSS draft presented in March. Under the KMVSS draft, starting from January 1, 2023, new type of PCs and trucks/special-purposed vehicles with a GVW of 3.5 tons or less must be equipped with AEBS. With mandatory AEBS, MOLIT aims to further increase safety on the road. In line with the KMVSS draft, KATRI presented a draft on AEBS TP 63-2, as harmonized with UNR 152 (up to 02 series). The scope, definitions and detailed procedures are specified for the following tests:

  • Warning and Activation Test in car-to-car scenarios and car-to-VRU scenarios.
  • False Reaction Scenario Test for vehicle target and pedestrian target
  • Deactivation Test for verifying the warning signal upon a deactivation of AEBS
  • Failure Detection Test for verifying the failure warning signal upon a simulated AEBS failure
