A group of lawmakers proposed a bill to improve the current provisions concerning the notification obligation, aiming to protect customers from purchasing a vehicle returned or repaired without being notified of the fact. The vehicle manufacturers/sellers, if selling a vehicle returned or a vehicle repaired for a defect occurring before its delivery, will be required to notify the customer of the relevant fact.
The revisions include provisions as follows:
- The mayor/governor should check whether the purchaser has been notified of the aforementioned fact by the vehicle manufacturer/seller.
- The vehicle manufacturer/seller should notify the purchaser of the aforementioned fact and immediately transmit it to the electronic information network organization.
- The vehicle owner, if purchasing an applicable vehicle without being notified of the aforementioned fact, may request an exchange or refund for the vehicle.
