The Act on the Promotion and Support for the Commercialization of Autonomous Vehicles (AV Act) was promulgated on July 27, 2021, aiming to prepare the legal basis for establishing and operating a certification management system to ensure the safety and reliability of C-ITS (Cooperative-Intelligent Transport Systems). In line with the Act, the revision drafts of its Enforcement Ordinance and Regulations specify detailed procedures and requirements for the certification management center, certification agency and verification agency for autonomous cooperative driving.
• The provision for operating the certification management center for autonomous cooperative driving is newly established to designate and supervise the certification agency and verification agency and to manage general affairs concerning the certification work.
• The Minister of MOLIT should designate the certification agency and the verification agency who meet the qualification criteria.
• The verification agency should detect and manage any activities threatening the safety of the information communicated in autonomous cooperative driving and take appropriate measures.
