Bill Proposal for MVCA Revision on Vehicle Information Provision

By February 17, 2023June 14th, 2023No Comments

Under the current MVCA, vehicle manufacturers are required to provide customers with information on vehicle performance and safety, including fuel economy. However, there are concerns that this information is insufficient for electric vehicles (EVs), especially during winter when cold temperatures can negatively impact battery performance and reduce the driving range of EVs. To address this issue, a proposed bill seeks to mandate that vehicle manufacturers provide consumers with accurate and comprehensive information on the driving range and fuel economy of EVs, taking into account both cold and ambient temperatures. Under the bill proposal, the vehicle manufacturer shall provide the following information to customers:

  • Owner’s manual for the vehicle and vehicle parts
  • Information on driving range and fuel economy according to temperature changes
  • Other matters prescribed by the Decree of MOLIT
