Recently, concerns are raised that the microplastics from worn synthetic tires pollute the air and oceans. To address the concerns over the microplastics emitted from the tire wear, a group of lawmakers proposed a bill for a revision to the Act for Resource Recycling of Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Motor Vehicles. With the requirements strengthened for better protecting the environment, vehicle manufacturers and importers shall comply with the “Guidelines for improvement in material/structure” to reduce hazardous microplastics generated from tires while in use.
