MOLIT pre-announced the KMVSS revision draft for the partially automated driving system, which is harmonized with UN Regulation 157 (Automated Lane Keeping Systems) established in March 2021. It intends to reduce burdens on the manufacturers by harmonizing the KMVSS with the UN Regulation, and facilitate the commercialization of Level 3 AVs by ensuring the high levels of safety in line with the UN Regulation. It is expected to be enforced in the 3rd quarter 2022.
The revision draft includes as follows:
- Clarify and specify the methods of deactivating the ALKS
- Enhance the requirement for transition demand
- Claify the conditions for emergency manoeuvre
- Improve the system status display method
