MOLIT presented a draft of the VIN Regulations in order to improve the requirements for the re-marking and correction of vehicle identification number (VIN). Under the current regulations, Korea Traffic Safety Authority (TS) is commissioned to carry out the work. The revision includes as follows:
– Improvement of the VIN marking requirements (Article 6)
It is allowed to use the existing VIN for re-marking when it has been erased or cannot be recognized.
– Improvement of the VIN correction requirements (Article 8)
TS or the identifiers (vehicle manufacturer or assembler) can use a separate tool if it is difficult to erase the VIN located in a narrow space.
