KATRI is drafting a KMVSS revision for Table 27_Partially Automated Driving System* as harmonized with the UN R 157. The draft aims to reduce burdens on the manufacturers and facilitate the commercialization of Level 3 AVs. KATRI plans to promulgate it within the first half of the year at the earliest.
*“Partially automated driving system” means a device that can operate a vehicle under specified conditions but requires driver intervention if necessary, such as operating constraints, etc.
The revision draft includes as follows:
- Clarify the requirements for activation, deactivation, driver input, warning signals, etc.
- Specify the methods of system override
- Specify the maximum operational speed: 110 km/h (60 km/h under UN R 157)
*”System override” by the driver means a situation when the driver provides an input to a control which has priority over the longitudinal or lateral control of the system, while the system is still active.
