MOLIT notified the revised VIN Regulations. The revision seeks to improve the requirements for the re-marking and correction of vehicle identification number (VIN). Under the current regulations, Korea Traffic Safety Authority (TS) is commissioned to carry out the work. The revision includes as follows:
- Improvement of the VIN marking requirements (Article 6)
- It is allowed to use the existing VIN for re-marking when it has been erased or cannot be recognized.
- Improvement of the VIN correction requirements (Article 8)
- TS or the identifiers (vehicle manufacturer or assembler) can use a separate tool if it is difficult to erase the VIN located in a narrow space.
