Regulation for the Designation of Consumer Chemical Products subjected to Safety Check and the Safety/Identification Requirements (2022.1.19)

The Regulation was announced to specify matters in line with the Act for the Safety Control of Consumer Chemical Products and Biocidal Substances. The revisions include as follows:

  • Remove DMDM Hydantoin and Tetraacetylethylenediamine from the the list of permitted biocidal substances for disinfectants
    • The substance is no longer in use and companies voluntarily withdrew it from the existing biocidal substances .
  • Grant a 2-year grace period for the application of safety requirements concerning the main ingredients which can be used
    • To use chemical substances excluded from the list of chemical substances which can be used, in the biocidal products declared before July 30, 2021, the chemical substances must undergo the hazard assessment from Jan. 1 , 2022. Meanwhile, the approval procedure for existing biocidal substances is underway. With the grace period, the approval result can be used for the hazard assessment.
